Fugitive Ex-Major Held in Zia Assassination Case

Detectives have arrested retired Major Md Mozzaffar Hossain, a fugitive convict in the assassination case of former President Ziaur Rahman, after nearly 45 years on the run.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner and Detective Branch (DB) Chief Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the arrest on Thursday afternoon.
He, however, did not disclose further details regarding the operation or the location where the arrest was made.
According to police sources, Mozzaffar Hossain had remained absconding since the assassination of President Ziaur Rahman in 1981 and was a convicted fugitive in the case.
