A woman died after her son struck her with a stick in Khan Mohammadpur village in Rupsha upazila in Khulna district on Friday morning.

Victim Mimmi Begum, 44, was the wife of Hamidul Islam of the village. The accused was identified as Nadim Islam, aged around 30.

The incident took place around 8:00am over family feud, said Md Ujjal Hossain, in-charge of Aichgati police camp in the upazila.

He said Nadim attacked his mother with a stick and hit her in the head, leaving her dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital for autopsy. They also arrested Nadim.

However, a group of people tried to snatch him from police while being taken to the camp, prompting additional force to rush in to take the situation under control, reports UNB.
