Dhaka, 28 Oct— Chattogram Division made a winning start to the 27th National Cricket League (NCL), crushing Rajshahi by 112 runs at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium today.

Chasing a victory target of 483, Rajshahi were all out for 370 on the final day of the game, tasting a big defeat.

Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad ended with 3-96, following his 6-39 in the first innings.

Resuming the day on 219-4, Rajshahi’s aspiration to overhaul the massive target received a setback when overnight unbeaten batter SM Mehrob was dismissed in the fifth over of the day after scoring 60.

Pritom Kumar who made highest 83, followed the suit of Meherob soon after, as Rajshahi were completely thrown out of the game.

Shakhir Hossain added 52 and guided lower order, helping Rajshahi go past 350-run mark and reduced the margin of the defeat.

Earlier, Chattogram put up 401 in the first innings before being all out thanks to century from Mahmudul Hasan Joy (127) and Yasir Ali Chowdhury (129) and took a huge 205-run lead, wrapping up Rajshahi for just 192.

Instead of enforcing follow-on, they chose to bat against and declared on 277-9 with Yasir making 92.

Yasir was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant batting performance.BSS
