Dhaka, 26 April -Mohammedan Sporting Club kept their aspiration to secure the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) trophy after one and half decade alive following a hard-fought four-wicket win over Gazi Group Cricketers in the Super Six phase today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

After this victory, they moved to second spot in the point table but they are
just two points adrift of the league leaders Abahani. Since the head-to-head
victory is counted in DPL as per the by laws, just a victory against
archrivals Abahani will be enough for them to seal the deal. The high-voltage
clash will be held on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Earlier in the group phase also, Mohammedan beat Abahani Limited.

Opting to bat first, Gazi Group Cricketers were wrapped up for 236 in 49.4
overs with opener Munim Shahriar making team-best 80. The next best was
Sheikh Parvez Jibon's 33.

Mustafizur Rahman and Saifuddin scalped three wickets apiece to help
Mohammedan bundle out Gazi Group in meager total.

Despite opener Rony Talukdar's 55, Mohammedan faced a hiccup midway through
the innings before veteran Mahmudullah Riyad added 49 to give the side a
stability.

Saifuddin made 30 not out while Nasum Ahmed played a crucial 13 ball-21 not
out to help the side reach the victory mark in the last ball of the innings.
