James Pamment Appointed Bangladesh's New Fielding Coach
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed James Pamment as the new fielding coach for the national men's team ahead of a challenging season, including the upcoming home series against Zimbabwe later this month.
Pamment, a 56-year-old English-born New Zealander, will hold the role through the ICC ODI World Cup in October–November 2027. He brings over a decade of fielding expertise, having most recently served as an assistant coach for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), specializing in fielding and running between the wickets since 2018.
His coaching career also includes a five-year tenure as head coach of Northern Districts in New Zealand and high-performance roles with New Zealand Cricket (NZC). Pamment has previously worked with New Zealand’s senior team, New Zealand A, and the U19 squads. He also had a brief stint as interim head coach of the United States national team.
In a statement released by the BCB, Pamment expressed his excitement for the role. "I am really excited about the opportunity to get involved with a very talented Bangladesh side. I look forward to joining the players and the backroom staff ahead of the Zimbabwe series," he said.
Pamment's appointment is part of the BCB's broader effort to strengthen the coaching staff under head coach Phil Simmons, whose contract was recently extended through the 2027 World Cup.
