Dhaka, 20 April - The Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) kept two days gap in every round of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Super League phase considering the ongoing shimmering heat that affected the country severely at this moment.

The DPL Super League, in which top six teams of the point table will take part, starts on Monday. Initially the CCDM was in favour to complete the league by April 30 with one day gap for each round.

But now they moved away from the decision as the clubs want considerable amount of the rest because of the heat that left players at risk of cramping. With the national players playing the league ahead of the home series against Zimbabwe, an injury of any player could be fatal.

However, the six teams that moved to the Super League were Abahani Limited, Shinepukur Cricket Club, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Prime Bank Cricket Club and Gazi Group Cricketers.

Abahani have been in advantageous position to retain the title as they will start the Super League with six points clear from the nearest rivals. The defending champions won all of the 11 matches in the group phase, which is a record also.

In the first round of the Super League, Abahani will take on Prime Bank at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium while Shinepukur will face off Gazi Group in BKSP. Mohammedan will lock horns with Sheikh Jamal at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah in the day’s other match.

Meanwhile, the relegation league starts on April 23. Gazi Tyres Cricket Academy, City Club and Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club will play the relegation league. Two teams will be relegated from Premier League after the teams face off each other once in the league which also has two days  gap.
