Tigers squad for T20 World Cup announced

Dhaka, 14 Sept  - The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today announced a 15-member squad of Bangladesh for the upcoming T20 World Cup, slated to be held in Australia in October-November.

Veteran player Mahmudullah Riyad was axed from the squad following his poor form in this format.

However players like Liton Das, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Hasan Mahmud who were injured returned to the fold following their recovery.

Naim Sheikh, Parvez Hossain Emon, Mahedi Hasan, Anamul Haque Bijoy who were in the squad for Bangladesh's disastrous Asia Cup were also dropped.

Earlier Mushfiqur Rahim retired from this format, meaning Bangladesh have only one player in Shakib Al Hasan available from the senior players.

Shakib will lead the side in the World Cup while Nurul Hasan Sohan will act as his deputy.

T20 World Cup Squad: Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Nurul Hasan Sohan (Vice captain), Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Afif Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Liton Das, Yasir Ali Rabbi, Mustafizur Rahman, Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Hasan Mahmud, Nasum Ahmed and Najmul Hossain Shanto.
