Dhaka, 21 May  - Senior batter Mushfiqur Rahim is all set to miss the Bangladesh's upcoming tour in West Indies as he decided to perform Hajj this year.

BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Younus confirmed the news, saying that Mushfiqur indeed applied for the leave for Hajj one month ago.

"About one month ago, he applied for the leave to perdorm hajj. We had just granted his leave," Younus said here today.

"Earlier we thought he will be available for some part of the tour. But when he gave letter we understood he will be off for the whole tour."

This was another blow to Bangladesh for their aspiration to win the series in West Indies where theh will play two Tests, three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals.

Bangladesh are already unlikely to get the service of Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, the two frontline pacers.

Bangladesh earlier in 2018 won the ODI series but perfomed badly in Test and T20 series.

Somedays ago, Muahfiqur became the first Bangladeshi batter to reach 5000 runs milestone. But more notably he made the occasion remarkable by registering his eighth Test century.

The century against Sri Lanka in the first Test also helped him get back to form.
