2 sentenced to death for killing schoolboy in Naogaon

Judge of the Naogaon Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Court-2, Mehedi Hasan Talukdar handed down the punishment.

The condemned convicts are- Mishu, 19 and Pinky, 30.

The court also sentenced two more accused in the case—Huzaifa and Saju Ahmed to ten years imprisonment as they were under age.

According to the prosecution, Nazmul, a schoolboy of Khadail village of Badalgachi upazila was abducted by the convicts on November 7, 2020. Later, they made a phone call to the father of Nazmul and demanded Tk 15 lakh as ransom.

Failing to get the ransom money, the kidnappers killed Nazmul and dumped the body near Akkelpur Railgate after putting it in a sack.

Meanwhile, the same court also sentenced two people to life imprisonment for violating a girl in 2010.

The lifers were identified as Morshed Ali, 35, and Rabiul Islam, 38 of Manda upazila. The court also fined Tk one lakh to the convicts, in default to suffer six months more in rigorous imprisonment.

The court also acquitted Sultana Parveen in the case as allegations brought against her could not be proved.

According to the prosecution, Rabiul Islam took a girl to the house of Morshed with a promise to marry her on February 15, 2010.

Later, he violated the girl and took video footage of the girl for evidence, reports UNB. 

Meanwhile, the girl got divorced by her husband as Rabiul sent the video footage to him.
