The High Court (HC) today annulled the recruitment process for 6,531 assistant teacher positions at government primary schools in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.

A bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi delivered the verdict, making permanent a previous rule issued on the matter.

Deputy Attorney General Akhter Hossain Md Abdul Wahab stated that the court directed the authorities to follow the Appellate Division’s recent ruling on quotas and re-publish the recruitment results accordingly.

The case was filed by 30 candidates who challenged the publication of the recruitment lists, accusing the authorities of improperly applying a quota system during the third phase of recruitment in Dhaka and Chattogram. Following a hearing, the High Court had issued a rule and stayed the recruitment process for six months.

Today's judgment confirmed the earlier stay, effectively canceling the recruitment process.
