Pakistan Says 23 Troops, 200 Militants Killed in Afghan Border Clashes

Pakistan’s military announced on Sunday that 23 of its soldiers and more than 200 Taliban and allied fighters were killed in intense overnight clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In a statement, the military said the confrontation erupted after coordinated attacks were launched from the Afghan side by militants linked to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other affiliated groups.

“Precision fire, air strikes, and ground raids were carried out against Taliban camps, posts, and terrorist training facilities situated across the border,” the statement read.

According to the military, 23 Pakistani troops were killed and 29 others injured during the operation, while over 200 Taliban and affiliated fighters were “neutralised.”

The clashes mark one of the deadliest recent escalations along the volatile border, where Pakistan has repeatedly accused militant groups of using Afghan territory to plan and execute cross-border attacks.

Authorities said security operations are continuing to secure the area and prevent further incursions.
