South Point School finish 13th in ISCF World School Chess

Dhaka, 11 April - The South Point School & College, Malibagh branch, finished 13th among twenty six schools in the FIDE ISCF World School Chess Asian Continental event that concluded in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Friday night.

South Point School and College team scored eight points from eight matches.

In the seventh round, South Point School & College lost to Mongolia's Bolovsrol Secondary School by 1.5-2.5 game points. Azaan Mahmood defeated Uilstuvshin Batbold, while Safayat Kibria Azaan drew with Enkhzaya Zagas Erdene. Muhtady Tajwar Nasheed and Sidratul Muntaha Nafi lost to Enkhtulga Erdenebat and Tselmuun Tuvshinbayar respectively.

In the eighth and final round, South Point School & College defeated Tajikistan's Secondary School No. 6 by 2.5-1.5 game points. Safayat Kibria Azaan and Muhtady Tajwar Nasheed won their games against Muhsinzoda Asiya and Kholov Inkander respectively. Azaan Mahmood split point with Kholova Amal while Sidratul Muntaha Nafi lost to Naimov David.

Uzbekistan's Wisdom School emerged champions with 16 points and Russia's Kurchatov School finished as runners-up with 14 points while India's Velammal MHS School secured third place with 12 points. 

A total of 26 schools from 20 Asian countries participated in the event.BSS
