Mah Alam elected JUJA President, Razib Secy

Mah Alam of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Razib Rayhan of Protidiner Bangladesh, have been elected president and general secretary respectively of Jahangirnagar University Journalists' Association (JUJA) for the 2026 session.


Chief Election Commissioner and the university's Botany Professor Dr Nahid Akhtar announced the election results at around 2:15 pm on Tuesday.

Election Commissioners Associate Professor of the Department of Management Abu Sayef Md Muntaquimul Bari Chowdhuri and Assistant Professor of the Department of Public Health and Informatics Dr Sahadat Hossain were present at the time.

The other office bearers are vice president Rasel Mahmud of Daily Ittefaq, joint general secretary Mushfiqur Rizwan of Ajker Patrika, treasurer Soikat Islam of Asia Post and office and publication secretary Ataur Rahman of Naya Diganta.

Besides, Rokib Hossain Pranto of Jagonews24.com, Faruk Hossain of Daily Sun and Mehedi Hasan of Dainik Shikkha were elected as executive members of the committee.

JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr Sohel Ahmed, Proctor Professor Dr A K M RashidulAlam, along with teachers from different departments and leaders of various social, cultural and political organisations, observed the election during the voting period.

Earlier, voting began at 10:00 am at the JUJA office located at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on the campus and continued in a festive atmosphere until 1:00 pm, reports BSS.
