DUCSU leaders meet with Chinese envoy

Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) leaders today held a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen at the Chinese Embassy in the city. 


At the invitation of Chinese ambassador DUCSU's newly appointed Treasurer and Chairman of the Department of Finance Prof Dr. H. M. Mosharraf Hossain was present on behalf of DUCSU President DU VC Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan.

During the meeting, the DUCSU leaders discussed various issues and expressed their desire for joint cooperation in multiple areas including infrastructural development of Dhaka University and enhancing student residential facilities.

A key topic of discussion was the construction of the proposed China-Bangladesh Friendship Hall, which will accommodate 5,000 female students, with construction expecting to begin this year. The DUCSU representatives also proposed building two additional halls for students and the ambassador assured them of joint cooperation in a second phase.

Ambassador Yao Wen expressed his interest in fostering mutual collaboration through various initiatives in the fields of science and technology, sports, health, scholarships, research, and culture.

At the end of the meeting, the DUCSU representatives presented a memento to the ambassador, and he, in turn, gave gifts to the elected DUCSU leaders, reports BSS.
