Manual vote counting for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (Jucsu) election has been completed, with results expected at 7pm today (13 September), officials confirmed.

Professor Sohel Ahmed, pro-vice-chancellor (administration), said at 2:15pm that the counting was finished. At the Senate building, where the process took place, ballots were being sorted and arranged for the final tally.

Chief Election Commissioner Professor Md Moniruzzaman stated, “The counting is complete, but some ancillary work remains. Once that is done, we hope to announce the results very soon.” Earlier, he indicated that the final results would be released at 7pm.

The announcement has faced repeated delays. Officials cited the death of a colleague, limited election management experience, and the absence of central student union polls for 33 years as key reasons behind the prolonged process.

JU Proctor AKM Rashidul Alam, who also serves as the election commission’s member-secretary, said every ballot is being checked carefully to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the results.
