JU Prof Tarikul appointed visiting professor at Oxford University

Prof Mohammad Tarikul Islam of Government and Politics Department at Jahangirnagar University (JU) has been appointed as a visiting professor at the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) of Oxford University.


A press release signed by acting director of JU Public Relations Office, Mohammad Mahiuddin confirmed the appointment this afternoon.

During his tenure at Oxford, Prof Tarikul Islam will present Bangladesh's Local Government Commission recommendations at a plenary session of the Commonwealth Secretariat Local Government Forum.

He is also scheduled to deliver lectures at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the University of Cambridge on Bangladesh's climate diplomacy and the role of local government in sustainable development.

Meanwhile, JU VC Prof Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan congratulated Prof Tarikul Islam, saying the appointment would encourage him to advance in teaching and research while enhancing Jahangirnagar University's reputation in the international arena, reports BSS.
