The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM) has dissolved all of its regional committees across the country, retaining only the central executive committee.
The announcement came from ADSM President Rashidul Islam Rifat during an emergency press conference held at Shahbagh on Sunday evening.
Rifat said the decision was made following an urgent organisational meeting where all members reached a consensus to suspend the regional bodies.
“With consensus reached in an emergency meeting of the organisational structure, we officially declare that all regional committees of the movement are suspended, effective immediately, except for the central committee,” he stated.
He added that the movement’s future direction and activities would be finalised through further discussions and announced in due course.
The move comes amid a period of heightened activism by ADSM, particularly around issues of social inequality, justice, and civil rights.
