Dhaka, April 30 - The dean of the Social Science Faculty of Jagannath University (JnU), has filed a complaint against Abusalah Sekander, Assistant Professor of Islamic History and Culture Department at JnU for committing false and fabricated information on Facebook against him.

On Tuesday, the victim Dean gave this written complaint to Prof. Dr. Sadeka Halim, the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University.

In the complaint letter, Prof. Abul Hossain wrote, “Teacher Abusalah Sekander made a post on Facebook accusing me of being an expert member of the Ph.D. committee by concealing information. In fact, I participated in an open seminar, which was done by Prof. Dr. Jahangir Hussain (current proctor) Ph.D.  All deans try to go when invited to Ph.D. seminars. Even though I am not a member of the committee, I have lost my honor and professional status due to the false post. I think he is also tarnishing the dignity of Jagannath University by running a false campaign against a dean.”

Dr. Abul Hossain also said, “Even before this, he (Sekander) had made various false posts against me on Facebook, which I had written to the former vice-chancellor. I request to take action after proper investigation against him. Meanwhile, the report shows that the Facebook post of the accused teacher, Abusalah Sekander, is not true. He was not in the three-member evaluation committee of the Ph.D. seminar.”

Meanwhile, earlier in 2012, he has been accused of marrying with a first-year student of his department by the proctorial body of Jahangirnagar University after being caught in an awkward situation at Jahangirnagar University, written complaint by two students for disrespectful behavior, insulting the Prime Minister in the class, abusing senior teachers including VC, Dean, Proctor on Facebook in various incidents including 71st departmental Academic Council  in 2019. Teacher Abusalah Sekandar was exempted from all academic activities by the meeting. Since then, he continued to make abusive posts on Facebook one after another against senior teachers. The students protested in the campus because the Prime Minister was called a 'vote thief' in the class.

An inquiry committee was formed to investigate the  teacher Abusalah Sekander on these allegations. A committee of inquiry has been asked to look into the latest syndicate. Meanwhile, Islamic History and Culture Department and “Nil Dal”, an organization of pro-Awami teachers, demanded the maximum punishment for Abusalah Sekander. The teachers' association of Jagannath University (JnUTA) also condemned Sekander's Facebook post. - UNB
