The minister said students who failed in one or more subjects would be allowed to sit for examinations only in the subjects they failed.
This year, the overall pass rate in the HSC and equivalent examinations stood at 52.12%, meaning nearly half of the examinees failed.
Of the 1,240,798 students who appeared in the examinations under 11 education boards, 646,685 passed while 594,113 failed.
An analysis of the results shows that the pass rate this year is the lowest since 2004, when 47.74 percent of examinees passed.
This year’s HSC and equivalent examinations began on July 2. However, due to flooding, the written examinations in several subjects under the Chattogram Education Board could not be held as scheduled.
The postponed examinations were later held, with the board’s written examinations concluding on September 9, reports UNB.
