Prof Shofi Ullah appointed new Sylhet Agri University VC
Dr. Mohummed Shofi Ullah Mazumder of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University has been appointed the new Vice-Chancellor of Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU).
The Ministry of Education issued a notification on Monday appointing him to the post by order of the President. The notification was signed by the ministry's Assistant Secretary Md Sultan Ahmed.
According to the notification, President and Chancellor of Sylhet Agricultural University appointed Prof Dr Mohummad Shofi Ullah Mazumder as the university's Vice-Chancellor for four years under Section 10(1) of the Sylhet Agricultural University Act, 2006.
Prof Shofi Ullah is currently serving as a professor in the Department of Agricultural Extension and Information System at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.
Earlier, on October 17, 2024, Professor Dr Md Alimul Islam of the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene at Bangladesh Agricultural University was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Sylhet Agricultural University.
A section of BNP-leaning teachers, officers and employees had been demonstrating at the university for the past two weeks, demanding his resignation over allegations of various irregularities and corruption.
The notification appointing Prof Dr Mohummad Shofi Ullah Mazumder as the new Vice-Chancellor came amid the ongoing movement, reports UNB.
