Technical Education Can Help Reduce Unemployment: President

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday stressed the need for greater emphasis on technical and technology-based education, saying it could help reduce unemployment in the country.

He made the remarks when a delegation led by Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Rais Uddin paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban on Monday afternoon.

During the meeting, the President inquired about the progress of construction of the university’s second campus and stressed the need to further improve the quality of education at Jagannath University.

The Vice-Chancellor briefed the President on the university’s overall academic activities.

The President said students need to develop proficiency in multiple languages to keep pace with global developments, particularly stressing the importance of learning a third language.

The Vice-Chancellor formally invited the President, in his capacity as Chancellor, to attend the university’s upcoming convocation.

The President accepted the invitation and assured the delegation that he would attend the convocation.

The President’s secretaries concerned, along with the university’s registrar and treasurer, were present at the meeting.
