Prof Amir Hossain appointed JSTU VC
Prof Dr. Mohammad Amir Hossain of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Jamalpur Science and Technology University (JSTU).
A gazette notification issued today said Professor Dr. Mohammad Amir Hossain has been appointed to the post for a four-year term under Section 10(1) of the Jamalpur Science and Technology University Act, 2017 (Amended-2025).
The terms of appointment stated that he will remain in office for four years from the date of joining or until the date of his retirement, whichever occurs earlier, it added.
In this position, he will receive salary and allowances equivalent to those of his current post and will be entitled to other benefits associated with the position in accordance with the rules.
The notification further stated that Professor Amir Hossain will stay on the university campus at all time as the chief executive officer of the university.
However, the President and Chancellor may cancel the appointment at any time if necessary, reports BSS.
The notification also said the order, issued in the public interest, will come into effect immediately.
