The price of gold in Bangladesh has increased by Tk 1,050 per bhori (11.664 grams) for 22-carat gold, bringing the new rate to Tk 171,601 per bhori.
According to the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS), the new prices will be effective from Wednesday. The revised rates for other categories are: 21-carat at Tk 163,798, 18-carat at Tk 140,400, and traditional method gold at Tk 116,127 per bhori.
BAJUS’s standing committee on pricing and price monitoring made the decision at a recent meeting, citing a rise in the price of acid gold (pure gold) in the local market as the reason behind the adjustment.
In addition to the base price, buyers will need to pay a 5% government-imposed VAT and a minimum 6% making charge as set by BAJUS. However, the final making charge may vary depending on the jewellery's design and craftsmanship.
The last gold price adjustment was made on July 7, when the price of 22-carat gold was increased by Tk 1,575, setting it at Tk 170,551 per bhori.
