Bangladesh is set to launch its first direct cargo flight service from Sylhet's Osmani International Airport to Europe on Sunday.

Commerce and Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin will inaugurate the operation, marking a significant milestone in expanding the country’s air cargo network.

"We are fully prepared to launch the first dedicated cargo flight from Sylhet, making it the second airport after Dhaka to handle such operations," said Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan.

A chartered Airbus A330-300 freighter, operated by Galistair Aviation, is scheduled to depart on Sunday evening, carrying 60 tonnes of readymade garments (RMG) destined for Spain. Biman Bangladesh Airlines will provide ground-handling services for the flight.

The inaugural event, chaired by CAAB Chairman Bhuiyan, will be held before the freighter's scheduled departure at 7:10 PM. The launch will be marked by a ceremonial water cannon salute.
