During this period, the paramilitary force seized 13.440 kgs of gold, 18.730 kgs of silver, 4,41,172 cosmetics, 41,331 pieces of Imitation jewelry, 8,739 sarees, 4,903 three-piece/shirt-piece/bed-sheet/blankets, 3,977 pieces of readymade garments, 9,603 meter of clothes, 14,01,513 fireworks, 4,546 cft timber, 2,194 kgs of tea leaves, 7,321 kgs of beetle nuts, 1,376 kgs of fertilizers, 45,550 kgs of coal, 53,545 kgs of cotton/nets, 865 mobile phone sets, 6,707 mobile display, 20,104 glasses, 7,220 pieces of vehicle equipment’s, 14,373 kgs of sugar, 4,467 kgs of onion, 8,388 kgs of garlic, 1062 packets of seeds, 7,318 kgs of cumin, 2,89,916 pieces of chocolates, 12 trucks/covered vans, 12 pick-up/tractors, one trolley, six private car/microbus, 156 boats, 40 CNG/easybikes, 56 motorcycles and 35 bi-cycles.
Seized arms include three pistols, one revolver, one SMG, three rifles, 16 magazines, 815 rounds of bullets and eight arms, said a Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam of BGB Headquarters on Sunday.
Other smuggled items include 12,37,693 pieces of Yaba pills, 4.601 kgs of heroin, 7888 bottles of phensidyl, 9525 bottles of foreign liquor, 167 litres of local liquor, 577 cans of beer, 1,548 kgs of cannabis, 2,55,698 packets of bidi/cigarette, 202 kgs of tobacco leaves, 20 bottles of LSD,
1,74,715 injections, 4,145 Eskuf syrups, 20,720 Anegra and Senegra tablets, and 18,07,490 other tablets.
Meanwhile, legal action has been taken against 209 smugglers, 160 Bangladeshi nationals,11 Indians for illegally crossing the border during the period, said Public Relations Officer of the BGB headquarters Md Shariful Islam, reports UNB.
Besides, 546 Myanmar nationals have been returned to their country while attempting to enter Bangladesh.
