As part of these heightened security measures, manpower has been extensively increased across all border checkpoints and Border Outposts (BOPs) under the jurisdiction of the Netrakona Battalion (31 BGB).
Furthermore, round-the-clock and seamless surveillance has been rigorously intensified to ensure airtight security along the frontier.
This information was officially confirmed in a press release signed by Lieutenant Colonel Towhidul Bari, PSC, Commanding Officer (CO) of the Netrakona Battalion (31 BGB), issued this Friday afternoon.
According to the official release, based on the current context of the country, potential push-in areas and vulnerable spots have been specifically identified. Strict patrolling and monitoring are being carried out continuously 24 hours a day, both day and night. BGB is explicitly making its robust and uncompromising presence felt by the BSF along the borders, particularly during the night, by utilizing megaphones, powerful searchlights, and whistles.
To fortify border security, local border residents from the general public have also been actively integrated into this defense mechanism.
BGB has been conducting joint preventive patrolling operations alongside local villagers at various times, and crucial border-centric intelligence is being gathered with their active assistance. Concurrently, continuous efforts to collect specific information are underway through BGB's own internal intelligence sources to effectively thwart any push-in attempts.
Meanwhile, the BGB authorities have categorically dismissed a report published and broadcasted by some newspapers and media outlets on June 4 (Thursday)-which claimed that "a push-in attempt of 137 individuals by BSF through the Durgapur border was foiled due to resistance from BGB and villagers"-clarifying that the news is completely erroneous, false, and baseless.
The Commanding Officer of 31 BGB explicitly stated that the published information is by no means accurate. In reality, no incident of resisting a push-in occurred at the Durgapur border on that day. It was merely a routine part of BGB's regular patrolling, under which BGB personnel and local residents together conducted a joint preventive patrol along the border line.
Lieutenant Colonel Towhidul Bari further added that round-the-clock intelligence gathering via local sources and residents remains operational to foil any potential push-in. He assured that if any such incident occurs or any reliable information is received, it will be formally and swiftly communicated to the media without delay.
He strongly reaffirmed that the BGB remains fully prepared, vigilant, and dedicated to protecting the sovereignty of the nation and ensuring border security, reports BSS.
