BB calls to send foreign currency through legal channel
The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has urged expatriates and their family members to send their earned foreign currency through legal means.
The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has urged expatriates and their family members to send their earned foreign currency through legal or banking channel to the country instead of using hundi.
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit issued a statement in this regard on Wednesday.
The statement said sending foreign currency through hundi or illegal channel is illegal and punishable offence, which has adverse impact on the country’s economy.
It will take necessary actions as per laws if it finds evidence of any involvement of any person with usage hundi or illegal channel for sending foreign currency to the country, the statement said.
