
An Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft crashed near Tambaram in Chennai’s Chengalpattu district on Thursday during a routine training mission.
The Pilatus PC-7 trainer aircraft went down while flying, but the pilot ejected safely and escaped without injury.
Footage from the crash site showed debris scattered across the area, with locals gathering to observe the aftermath.
The IAF later confirmed the incident, stating that no damage to life or property had been reported. A formal investigation has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash.
“An Indian Air Force PC-7 Mk II trainer aircraft met with an accident during a routine training mission at around 1425 hours near Tambaram, Chennai, today. The pilot ejected safely, and no civil property was damaged. A Court of Inquiry has been constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident,” the IAF said.
