Heavy rain disrupts flight operation at Ctg airport on Tuesday.

Chattogram, July 7 - Three flights scheduled to land at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport were unable to do so on Tuesday due to inclement weather caused by torrential rains.

Of the three, two international flights were diverted to Dhaka, while a domestic flight returned to the capital after failing to land in Chattogram, said Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, public relations officer of Shah Amanat International Airport.

US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-350 from Abu Dhabi and Air Arabia flight G9-526 from Sharjah were diverted to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka due to the bad weather, he said.

Meanwhile, Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-121 from Dhaka to Chattogram returned to Dhaka after it was unable to land at Shah Amanat International Airport, Khalil added.

Wind speeds in the airport area reached 80 to 90 kilometres per hour, affecting flight operations, he said.

Nearly all arriving and departing flights at the airport were operating with delays ranging from 30 minutes to one hour due to the inclement weather, the official added. - UNB
