Dhaka, September 2026: Goopy Bagha Productions Limited and Views & Vision Production present an exhibition of An Apple Tree Inside the Head, the unreleased film directed by Fazly Rabbi Mridha, at Alliance Française de Dhaka. The exhibition will take place from 15 to 19 September 2026 at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka, Dhanmondi, and will remain open to visitors daily from 3 to 9 PM.

Bringing together a selection of photographs taken during the making of the unreleased film, the exhibition offers a glimpse into its visual and emotional landscape. Rather than revealing the film itself, the photographs invite visitors to explore its atmosphere, characters, landscapes, gestures and fleeting moments, allowing each viewer to construct their own sense of the story through images.

About the Film

The story of Adam and Eve and the forbidden fruit, which came to symbolise knowledge, temptation and the loss of innocence, remains one of humanity’s most enduring myths. An Apple Tree Inside the Head draws upon this ancient memory to enter a shadowy world where faith, fear and the human mind become inseparable.

Mintu Mridha’s wife, Jasmin, and their son, Shohag, move through life as if caught in a trance, often wandering away from home without explanation. Convinced that an unseen force has entered his family, Mintu turns to a saint, who gives him a blessed apple believed to possess the power of healing. Yet the apple remains untouched.

As strange patterns begin to repeat and the boundaries between reality and illusion gradually dissolve, the apple takes on an increasingly mysterious presence. It becomes a possible cure, a temptation and a sign of something unknowable. Trapped between devotion and doubt, Mintu is drawn deeper into a darkness that may belong to the supernatural, the human psyche or something far older.

Written and directed by Fazly Rabbi Mridha, the film represents an emerging voice in independent Bangladeshi cinema. Produced by Bijon Imtiaz, Arifur Rahman and Josim Ahmed, the production reflects a continued commitment to bringing bold, auteur-driven stories from South Asia to wider international audiences.

About the Director

Fazly Rabbi Mridha is a young Bangladeshi filmmaker whose work explores complex psychological and human experiences through an individual cinematic language.

His film Payer Tolay Maati Nai received the Gautam Buddha Award for Best Feature Film at the 5th Nepal International Film Festival. The film also received a Special Jury Mention for Best Debut Film at the 7th Jaffna International Cinema Festival in Sri Lanka.

An Apple Tree Inside the Head continues his exploration of distinctive and atmospheric storytelling, bringing together questions of faith, family, memory, fear and the boundaries between reality and perception.
