Bridging Horizon Celebration begins at AFD Dhanmondi on Friday 14 Aug 2026.



Celebrating friendship beyond borders, Bridging Horizons brings together the artistic voices of Singapore and Bangladesh in a vibrant dialogue of nature, heritage and innovation.

DHAKA, BANGLADESH — 13 August 2026: As part of the celebrations marking Singapore's 61st National Day, The High Commission of the Republic of Singapore in Dhaka, in collaboration with Alliance Française de Dhaka, is pleased to present Bridging Horizons: A Visual Dialogue of Nature, Heritage and Innovation, a cross-border art exhibition celebrating the enduring friendship and growing cultural ties between Singapore and Bangladesh. 

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday, 14 August 2026, at 5:30 PM at the Alliance Française de Dhaka, with the showcase remaining open to the public from 14 to 19 August 2026.

The opening ceremony will be attended by Mitchel Lee, Chargé D'affaires, Singapore High Commission as the Chief Guest. The ceremony will be graced by the legendary Professor Rafiqun Nabi, Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, as the Guest of Honor. Special Guests include Professor Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, and M. François Chambraud, Director of Alliance Française de Dhaka. The overall initiative is curated by Harun ar Rashid Tutul, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka.

Designed to celebrate and strengthen the vibrant diplomatic and cultural ties between Bangladesh and Singapore, Bridging Horizons brings together a diverse selection of artistic expressions that explore themes of nature, heritage, innovation, and shared cultural identity. The exhibition features a premier collection of artworks from Singapore alongside works by 14 renowned Bangladeshi master artists, while also highlighting fresh and emerging perspectives from six young Bangladeshi artists selected through a national open call. Together, these works create a dynamic visual dialogue between established artistic traditions and contemporary voices, reflecting the shared values and evolving cultural connections between the two countries.
