Bride, 3 others killed in Rampal road crash buried in Khulna

Four members of a family including the bride who were among 14 killed in a tragic road accident in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat were buried on Friday in Khulna.


The deceased were bride Marjia Mitu, daughter of Salam Morol of Naksha village in Koyra upazila, her younger sister Lamia,10, their grandmother Rashida Begum, 75, and maternal grandmother Anowara Begum.

Mitu was a first-year student at Naksha Alim Madrasa.

Namaz-e-Janaza of Mitu, Lamia, and Rashida Begum were held around 9:30 am on Friday at a field beside their home in Naksha village, followed by burial in the family graveyard.

Anowara Begum’s janaza and burial took place in Dakop upazila.

Earlier, 14 people including the bride were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus at Belai Bridge on the Khulna–Mongla highway on Thursday, reports UNB.

The deaths cast a deep shadow of grief over Naksha village and surrounding areas.
