Mother, daughter die in Bogura accident

A woman and her minor daughter were killed when 

a truck hit an auto-rickshaw at Bathuabari Bridge link road near Dhunat-Sherpur regional road area under Dhunat upazila of the district this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Rebeka Khatun, 26, wife of Palash hailed from Bathuabari village of the upazila, and her daughter Hujaifa Khatun, 4.

The incident occurred around 2pm when a cement-laden truck hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw in the area, leaving auto-rickshaw passengers Rebeka and her daughter dead on the spot, police said.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhunat Police Station Atiqul Islam said after receiving the news, a team of the police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

The police team detained the truck but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene, he said.

The bodies were sent to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital for autopsy, the OC added.
