Two people were killed and seven others injured when a passenger bus turned turtle and fell into a roadside ditch in the Tetulia Bridge area on the Mongla-Khulna Highway in the district this afternoon.

The identities of the victims could not be confirmed immediately.

"The accident occurred when the passenger bus, coming from Mongla, collided head-on with a couple of motorcycles and flipped onto its side as it tried to stop. The bus then rolled into a roadside ditch, killing two passengers on the spot," Senior Station Officer of Mongla EPZ Fire Station Md Emran Hossain told BSS.

The seven injured passengers were rushed to Jhonjhonia Hospital nearby.

All the motorbike riders involved in the crash are believed to be tourists heading to the Sundarbans, reports BSS.
