Auto in wedding convoy collides with bus in Gaibandha; 1 killed, 8 hurt

One person was killed and at least eight others injured when a wedding party's autorickshaw collided with a passenger bus in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha on Friday night.


Two of the injured are in critical condition.

The accident occurred around 8pm at Gazi Kura area in Sundarganj municipality.

According to the police source, the auto-rickshaw carrying wedding guests was traveling from Beradanga village in Gaibandha Sadar toward Sundarganj along the Gaibandha-Sundarganj road.

It collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound Sonali Paribahan bus near the municipal boundary.

The injured were taken to Sundarganj Health Complex where Raju Mia, a resident of Theltheli Purbo Rajibpur village, died, reports UNB. 

Abdul Hakim Azad, Officer-in-Charge of Sundarganj Police Station, confirmed the accident and said, “The identity of the deceased is known, but it is not confirmed whether he was a wedding guest.”
