Three students killed in Sherpur road crash

Three madrasa students were killed in a road accident in Rangtia area under Jhenaigati upazila of the district on Sunday evening.


The deceased were identified as Md. Sakibul Islam, 9, son of Golap Hossain of Bara Rangtia village, Md. Zakaria Hossain, 10, son of Md. Zahurul Mia and Md. Amin Mia, 9, son of Md. Saib Ali, resident of the same area.

All the deceased were students of the Hefz Department of Rangtia Markazut Taqwa Madrasa. 

The accident took place around 7 pm when a microbus hit the students as its driver lost control over the vehicle, leaving them critically injured, said M Al-Amin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jhenaigati Police Station. 

The injured were taken to Jhenaigati Upazila Health Complex. They were shifted to Sadar Hospital later where on-duty doctors declared Sakibul and Zakaria dead, said Dr. Anika Afrin Proma, medical officer of the Emergency Department of the hospital.

Amin was referred to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.

Later, he was shifted to Dhaka as his condition deteriorated but Amin succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka at 2 am today, reports BSS.
