Two killed, 6 hurt in Chandpur road accident

Two persons were killed and six others including two children injured in a road accident in Borodia Bridge area of Matlab Dakkhin upazila on  Chandpur-Matlab-Pennai road today.


The deceased were identified as Siddiqur Rahman, 50, an auto-rickshaw driver and inhabitant of Choto Haludia village under Matlab Uttar upazila and Tapan Chowdhury, 35, of Matlab Dakkhin upazila of the district.

The accident occurred when a passenger bus collided head on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area leaving auto rickshaw driver Siddiqur killed on the spot and injured seven others.

Locals rescued the injured and sent them to Chandpur Government General Hospital where Tapan succumbed to his injuries.

The physical conditions of the injured  are stated to be critical, said medical officer of the hospital, adding that two of them were sent to Dhaka for improved treatment, reports BSS. 

Police seized the two vehicles from the spot.
