Teenager dies and cousin hurt in Sylhet lightning strike

Sylhet, June 07 - A 12-year-old boy died and his cousin was injured after being struck by lightning in Kanaighat upazila of Sylhet on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Fahim Ahmed, son of Foyez Ahmed of Borodesh Uttargram.

According to locals, lightning struck them on their way to the local mosque.

Locals rescued and rushed them to Kanaighat Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared Fahim dead.

His cousin, Al-Amin, 13, was sent to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical Hospital in critical condition.

Golam Dastgir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of the Kanaighat Police Station, said the body was handed over to his family. - UNB
