Two trains collide at Hasanpur Station, Cumilla; 20 injured
Boggies of two trains lifted under the impact of a collision at Hasanpur station in Cumulls on Sunday.
Dhaka, Apr 16 - Rail communication has been disrupted from Chattragram to Dhaka as Dhaka-bound Sonar Bangla Express hit a freight train at Hasanpur Railway Station of Cumilla on Sunday evening.
Six bogies and the locomotive of Sonarbangla Express were derailed injuring at least 20 passengers on the spot where six of them are in critical condition.
Several of the injured were being treated at Nangalkot Health Complex.
Officer-in-charge of Laksham Railway Police Station Jashim Uddin said, the Dhaka bound freight train was stationed in a line on the Hasanpur station. Dhak- bound Sonar Bangla Express from Chattagram wrongly entered the same line and hit the rear side of the freight train at around 6:22 pm.
Several persons were injured as the six bogies of the Sonar Bangla Express derailed but did not skip off of the rail track, the OC said.
