3 killed in separate road accidents, lightning strike in Satkhira

 
The deceased were identified as Mehedi Hasan Sobuj, 28, son of Md Abdul Jalil of Ashashuni village, Rakibul Hasan, 19, son of Abdus Sabur of Bala Danga village in Satkhira Sadar and Rubina Khatun, 25, wife of Ilias Ali of Kachua village in Assasuni upazila of the district.
 
Rakibul Hasan was critically injured when his motorcycle collided head-on with a rickshaw-van at Chhaygharia intersection on the Satkhira-Jashore highway in Sadar upazila around 7.30pm.
 
He was rescued and taken to Satkhira Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
 
Officer-in-Charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Md Mahmudur Rahman confirmed the incident.
 
In another accident, around 8pm, a covered van ran over a motorcycle on the Patkelghata overpass along the Khulna-Satkhira highway under Patkelghata Police Station. 
 
Motorcycle rider Mehedi Hasan Sobuj was crushed under the covered van's wheels and died on the spot. 

He was working as a representative of ACME Laboratories in the Dumuria area, confirmed Officer-in-Charge of Patkelghata Police Station Md Shafiqul Islam.
 
Besides, Rubina Khatun was cutting grass near her house around 2pm when lightning struck her. She died on the spot, reports BSS.
 
Officer-in-Charge of Assasuni Police Station Md Jahangir Arif confirmed the accident.
