Three killed in Madaripur road accident
Three people were killed and at least 10 others injured in a collision between two buses on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Pacchar-Bakherkandi area under Shibchar upazila in the district this afternoon.
The identities of the deceased could not be immediately confirmed while the injured were taken to local clinics.
According to the Fire Service, one of the bus's wheels of a Dhaka-bound Palki Paribahan bus coming from Khulna malfunctioned in the Pacchar-Bakherkandi area of the expressway prompting the driver to stop the vehicle by the roadside.
At that time, a Dhaka-bound bus of Hanif Paribahan bus coming from Barishal rammed into the rear of the stationary Palokhi Paribahan bus at high speed leaving Palokhi Paribahan bus driver's assistant and two passengers of Hanif Paribahan killed on the spot.
Abu Zafar Sardar, station officer of Bhanga Fire Service, said Fire Service personnel went to the scene and conducted rescue operations.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Muntasir Rahman of Shibchar Highway Police Station said police recovered the bodies of the deceased while efforts are underway to identify the victims, reports UNB.
Legal proceedings in connection with the incident are underway, he said.
