Three people were killed and another was injured after a bus rammed a stationary covered van from behind in Feni’s Muhuriganj area on Friday morning.

The accident occurred around 7am in front of Daulatpur Government Primary School on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, police said.

The deceased included the covered van’s driver and helper and the bus driver. Their identities could not be confirmed immediately.

Abu Noman, a sub-inspector at Fazilpur Highway Police Station, said the covered van had broken down and was stationary on the Chattogram-bound lane.

Attempts were being made to tow the vehicle by attaching it to a long vehicle when a Unique Paribahan bus, travelling at high speed, crashed into it from behind.

The covered van’s driver and helper and the bus driver died at the scene, he said.

The injured person was rescued and taken to Feni 250-bed General Hospital for treatment.

Fazilpur Highway Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the morgue of Feni 250-bed General Hospital.

Police said the three vehicles involved in the accident have been seized.
